Comedian Joan Rivers caught a reporter by surprise on Tuesday with a very matter-of-fact statement that First Lady Michelle Obama “is a [censor],” which, she says, makes Barack Obama the first gay president.

Rivers, 81, who officiated a same-sex couple’s impromptu wedding at book signing event earlier this week, was asked by a reporter what she thought the likelihood of the U.S. having either a woman or a gay president in the near future.

“We already have that with Obama. You know Michelle is a [censor],” she said.

The unidentified reporter, seemingly unsure of what he just heard, followed-up: “I’m sorry. She’s a what?”

“A transgender,” Rivers replied. “We all know.”

Would like to point out that the vast, vast majority of comments on lgbtqnation.com were defending Joan’s bullshit. Thanks cis-LGB’s!

It was the same way when I looked on /r/ainbow, Reddit’s prime location for complaining about those other queers who take it too far.

There are so many things wrong with Joan Rivers.

I censored the slur in this post because 1. it’s triggering to a lot of trans women and other trans people who experience transmisogyny 2. I don’t want the word on my blog and 3. it doesn’t need to be seen, everyone knows what it is.
