Never discredit your gut instinct. You’re not being paranoid. Your body can pick up vibrations, some better than others, and if something deep inside you says something’s not right about a person or situation, trust it and keep it pushing. 

Your gut isn’t always right, though, so it’s good to temper it with some reasoning.  Sometimes your gut is telling you something because it fits with a stereotype or a story you’ve told yourself, and then it can be spectacularly wrong.  But when your gut keeps bugging you about something, there’s a good chance you’re right.  Just beware of other things masquerading as your gut.  Because those things exist too and can be awful.
