More on triggers and stuff
The thing I wrote about earlier with the weird emails I was getting? I pretty much had a whole afternoon consisting of “panic attack” when I got the last one of those.
It was nasty and awful and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone, and it was all because something about the emails I was getting managed to trigger something about a pattern of harassment that actually did happen to my family when I was little.
And I don’t get to have warnings for stuff like that. Assuming I am not actually being trolled (and at this point I am pretty sure I’m not, unless the troll is extremely lazy), this is totally impersonal and random. I don’t get to be mad at anyone for not trigger-warning, and I don’t get to hope for a warning when it comes to this sort of thing.
So yeah. I am glad warnings are there and can be used by some people, and that some people benefit from their use. But good grief can we please not assume that it is even possible to warn for everything?
