Thank you for your kind response to this person, I was in a similar situation once where everything I wrote was interpreted by someone in the worst way possible, and, I kept trying to change to not hurt them, and it never worked and only somehow got worse, and what you have written is something for me to remember for the future. Thank you.

I tried to be kind.  It’s hard to be kind when I feel hostility blasting out around the edges of what a person is saying.  They did apologize though.  But IDK.  This whole thing worries me, this isn’t the first response I’ve gotten that is like “I’m not exactly like you, so I should kill myself, huh?”
