I can’t ever be grateful enough for the people on tumblr who do nice things just because.  This person sent me five skeins of beautiful wool-blend yarn, and a Yarn Drum (basically a big thing for carrying yarn and kniting/crocheting supplies in, and you can keep the yarn inside while working on your project outside of it).  She sent me a lovely little note as well, similar to some of the notes I get in my askbox.

Don’t ever feel obligated to buy me things (one reason I didn’t put up a wishlist for so long was I didn’t want people who couldn’t buy me things, or just didn’t want to, to feel bad about themselves or something).  But when people do, I’m amazed and grateful.  Grateful because a person I barely know on the Internet cared enough to buy me yarn and crochet supplies.  Amazed, for really the same reason.  And this person found my wishlist before I’d posted about it (I mean, I had a page about it already but I hadn’t written an actual tumblr post so it wasn’t on anyone’s dash).

And just… wow I’m so amazed and grateful and happy when things like this happen.  I will never take any gift for granted no matter how small.  Ever.  That’s why I always say even thinking good thoughts is a gift, even if the recipient of those thoughts never hears them.  Because for some people that’s as much as they can do, and intent matters.  I’ll never measure one person by another person’s standards.  I promise that.  And it will always continue to amaze me if people actually use the wishlist.  Like… I was expecting that every once in awhile someone might send something near my birthday or something, and within days of setting up the wishlist I’ve gotten three gifts – the air conditioner (from my brother), the egg beater stimtoy (from my mother), and then this (from someone whose name I’ll keep private).  And they all had wonderful little personalized notes in them.  And just… I cried, every time.  I’ll always be thankful.  This isn’t something I’ll ever expect or take for granted.
