My “kittens” definitely aren’t kittens anymore
They haven’t been for a while now. I mean, the trio (of adopted feral-born littermates) will be FIVE in August. But still, it always amazes me how I can look at them and *see* maturity in their expressions and posture and such. The last picture of Cora I posted is a good example of this. She’s had that Intense Gaze thing since she was tiny, but now it’s like the rest of her is backing it up with experience and practice, and she has a degree of confidence she has earned many times over.
They are still *young* adults at this age but they feel like…peers, not children. I mean people can jokingly call them “my kids” and I won’t freak out, but, really, they are much more like adult housemates/friends who I am privileged to share a life with than like children.
I’ve noticed the same thing. And I love watching them go through the stages of life. That’s one of the few advantages to living with an animal with a shorter lifespan than yourself.
