“One of the first jobs that I had in this field was working in an experimental group home. This was back in the time when the deinstituionalization movement was just getting underway. People were chosen who lived on back wards of a large institution to move to a group home in the center of the city to see how they would do in this new urban setting. The one thing that they didn’t take into consideration is that sometimes there is very little difference between the back ward of an institution and a downtown urban setting!”
