Anonymous asked: Hi! I'm going to school in the fall for occupational therapy. I have met many parents of autistic children before who really had the mindset that their child needs to be 'cured' and that stimming, nonverbal communication, etc were undesirable and needed fixing. Do you have any tips for being an OT who can make a positive impact on autistic children and not fall into the idea they need a cure? (I'm hoping to work in pediatric) Thanks!

Read Dave Hingsburger, and read a lot of it:

A Real Nice But

A Little Behind

Real Eyes

And more.  But those are the ones I’d recommend first.  The first two are about $5 each and short but utterly amazing, although it’s hard to order from Diverse City Press sometimes.
