Anonymous asked: That post you wrote the other day, about parents who try training their autistic children to "function" and do things like say "i love you" really has me thinking! As an educator, I've always hated seeing that done, but it seems to be the way to go with autistic children no matter what. I haven't come across many teachers or professors who believe that autistic kids can ""function"" at all without their word-prompting guidance. (I mean I'm sure they exist but I haven't seen many...)

Always go for function over form.
