They’re lenses that use prisms (not the kind that make rainbows) to shift your vision up and down or side to side. This helps when your eyes are not aligned properly. My eyes are badly enough misaligned side to side, that at my tiredest the prism doesn’t work, but when I’m not tired it works. They’re much more mildly affected up and down and that prism always works. It allows me to see in three dimensions, instead of seeing double all the time (or seeing only out of my left eye because when I see double, my brain cancels out my right eye sometimes).
