Because heaven forbid we should headcanon characters who actually are able to behave like decent human beings most of the time as autistic.

I have been headcanoning Luna Lovegood and Neville Longbottom as autistic since long before I ever heard of anyone else doing so.  (They’re also the two people I get compared to the most – at least, teenage!me gets compared to Luna, which… is embarrassingly accurate at times.)  I think they’re both better at behaving like decent human beings than most of the main characters in the series.

I also think Ernie MacMillan might be autistic, though, and he’s not exactly someone I’d hold up as a great human being, although not an awful one either.  It’s just I’ve known a lot of autistic people who come off like him.
