I LOVE THAT SONG.

I don’t recall why, but years and years ago, the kids and myself were playing songs we related to. And Darlene, my oldest, had a theory that people liked songs that were more wish fulfillment than reality. And I disproved this.

“That song IS you!”

My favorite related thing about her is that she modeled her looks (and still does) after the town tramp, who she had always looked up to.  She would try to watch her all the time, she saw her as the most beautiful woman in the world, and her mother would try to pull her away, and… that just says everything, so much, too much, at once.  And now, she still does it, but she gets shit for it, she gets people not taking her seriously, and that’s just… I’m not a femme but so many femmes can relate to that I’m sure.  At least some sorts of femmes, some of whom I’ve known, it just all seems so familiar.

I can, yes. That definitely resonates with me.
