rage-kitty asked: Regarding your post about genders; I identify myself as genderfluid because it is the closest relevant term to how i feel about my gender. I can be very feminine, masculine, in between, none, or dont care; pretty much. Haha. This is how i see it: Most people dont understand outside of female and male genders anyways. You tell someone you're Trans* and they assume you're queer or similar. /shrug. Just be you. If you cant find a label that fits you, then you are just that unique :P be free!

Genderless fits me just fine, it’s getting other people to understand genderlessness that gets confusing.  :-P

how is genderlessness confusing to people??? I don’t get it.

Some people assume it means a gender that happens to be androgynous.

Some people assume it means that I’m a TERF who wants to abolish gender for political reasons.

Some people interrogate me about whether I experience various sorts of body dysphoria, and decide whether “genderless” fits me based on that.

Some people tell me that gender is imposed on us from without so nobody can be genderless and only ignorant people could think we could be.

(I actually agree with that to a degree, but I think we’re using the word ‘gender’ for two entirely different things.  One of which is a sociological thing imposed on people from the outside, and the other of which is a complex aspect of identity that happens on the inside.  I lack the latter, not the former.  I’m fine with multiple definitions of gender, but not everyone is.)

Also, since nearly everyone, trans and cis, has a gender, a lot of people are in disbelief that anyone could be genderless.  Or they try to make genderless into this trivialized little thing of no importance to the real trans community, usually by insisting that all genderless people are AFAB cis women who pretend to be genderless so that they don’t have to say they’re cis, and who use female names and pronouns and 'feminine’ clothes, and therefore somehow aren’t genderless enough.  I could rant about this for days, but I won’t.
