atshirtaway asked: I didn't want to reblog your conversation with madeofpatterns in case it wasn't somewhere I was supposed to be. But I think that there is an assumption of safety about women because of the wrong idea that women cant abuse, and because there is a cultural understanding (sort of) of how women are hurt by men. That said, all of my rapists and abusers have been cishet men, and as a result I am extremely uncomfortable around them. I'm happy to have a male neurologist, but not a male PSW.

That makes sense.  And I understand why some women would not want men in certain positions of power over them.  It’s just my experience has been very different, and so has madeofpatterns.
