Also it’s worth mentioning
My current medication for mito is:
Levocarnitine 990mg x3
Alpha Lipoic Acid 300mg x2
Ubiquinol 100mg x2
Cytotine liquid (1.5g Creatine/tablespoon) one tbsp 2x/dayYou know what all of these things have in common?
Every single one is an over the counter vitamins.
Basically what I am saying is, you can’t see a doctor to get tested and are wondering if you have it?
That’s the treatment.
You don’t need a doctor. You can try the treatment and see if it helps you.
Obviously you should double check to make sure all of those are safe for you personally to take first. But hey. If you can’t see a doctor or find a doctor to help you it is an option.
I actually used l-carnitine for a long time during the worst of my illness and it did seem to make things better – it got me able to last until other treatments could be started. We didn’t know about mito disease at the time, it was entirely on the basis of what my muscles were doing and what my DPA knew about l-carnitine and its effects. I should mention this to my neurologist. At any rate, I should be getting tested soon and I’ll know one way or the other.
