Just World Theory is useful but not sufficient

Because victim blaming is a thing that people who want to abuse others with impunity invented so that other people would look the other way, or even help them do it

It kind of glosses over the fact that our system was created this way on purpose by people who want to exploit other people for their own gain, and who have for a very long time controlled people’s perceptions of their victims

Yes.  I mean if you (without any previous biases)  look at the world - it should be pretty clear that it isn’t 100% fair.  So it’s more than that.  It’s woven into our culture.

Yeah.

I mean, my dad thinks the world is basically fair and that authority figures will always do what’s best for people. And that’s why he doesn’t believe that Disability turning me down repeatedly is something they maliciously do because they don’t want to help people. And he said “I believe in authority because I myself am an authority figure.” And he’s abusive, so.

“I believe in authority because I myself am an authority figure”?  Woooowwwwww.  That’s scary.  Especially because if you are an authority figure, you need to trust yourself as little as you can with that authority, in order to use it properly.  My only experiences with authority have led me to trust authority less, not more, because I know how easy it is to abuse power without even trying.
