PolicyMic spoke with the freed activist to clear up the biggest misconceptions trans women face.

CeCe McDonald would like to clear up a few myths about trans women. In a recent interview with PolicyMic, the young transgender activist dismantled seven myths that are commonly held.

A little background - CeCe was incarcerated for 41 months after defending herself against a transphobic assault. Since release, she has channelled her experiences into activism, raising awareness of the ways that transgender people and everyone else can be mistreated by the criminal justice system.
