It’s definitely a dichotomy, which means a system of opposites – I is the opposite of E, N is the opposite of S, T is the opposite of F, and P is the opposite of J. So each of those four things is a dichotomy. Some people would say a false dichotomy (things that aren’t opposites, but that look like opposites) but that’s up for debate. I can see it’s not a law code though.
I’m supposedly an ISFP. I can’t really get any self-knowledge out of any of the descriptions, though. Either of that or of INFP, INTP, or ISTP, which are the only other ones I’ve really fallen into ever. I just can’t see much use in it for myself. I invented my own continuation of N and S – U. So that if N is at one end, and S is in the middle, U is at the opposite end. But I don’t expect it to take off, even if IUFP would’ve been infinitely easier for me to understand. :-P
