I am REALLY enjoying AACC.
I am too. Today was very good.
Hoping I can actually make it next year. :P
Be careful though. AACC is not an autistic utopia. It’s a complicated space and a lot of things go wrong that hurt people. It’s… it’s good in a number of ways. Uniquely good, even. But it’s… don’t drop your guard automatically, it’s not actually safe to do that.
What is AACC?
Association for Autistic Community Conference.
It’s a new organization people created after Autreat collapsed last year. There are a lot of similarities and continuities, though. But also things that are different.
I like it a lot. Except for the ways I don’t. But I met someone who moves like me and we drew a tree and it had birds in it and I was in a room with people who understand why I love Oscar the Grouch and we went on a quest to get stim toys and we got them and did fun things with them.
