YES. Jesus, thank you.
I cannot tell you how many times I have had to point out what the audience at conventions actually LOOKS like to people in the industry. They can do signings in a booth full of every kind of person all day long, every color, every size, every orientation and more, and STILL go online and talk about how only white straight males read comics.
IT IS PROFOUNDLY UNTRUE AND INSULTINGLY IGNORANT.

Most of the time when I go into the comic shop I use (the one dangersocks works for!), the staff person on duty is a woman (or at least presents as a woman). Every once in a while it’s the owner, who is a man. When there are other customers, sometimes it’s men and sometimes it’s not, sometimes it’s kids (usually it’s not because I go when they’re in school a lot of the time), sometimes it’s white people, sometimes it’s not. I personally prefer going when it’s not really busy though, not because I want All the Attention but because I don’t like having to navigate crowds and I like quiet when I’m shopping. Especially if I’ve just been at a mall or a coffee shop for the morning. :P
