…Some people really DO have severe receptive language problems and need very precise language to be able to understand anything, but cover it up with pedantic language dickery.
“You’re doing it wrong, that word doesn’t mean that”, is compatible with passing as ~gifted~ in a way that “I don’t understand, did you mean…” isn’t.
Yep I know people who did it exactly like that. And made serious asses of themselves around people with expressive language problems too.
I do think the number of gifted-passing people with severe receptive language problems is less than the number of gifted-passing people with auditory processing problems, though. And people get the two confused. A lot.
