I’m home.
It wasn’t my case manager who picked me up, it was one of his colleagues, which was confusing but she got me home. I had an entire pile of mail to pick up and sort through, including some amazing stuff my mom had sent me. And Fey is still yowling at the top of her lungs.
Fey has reason to be pissed off. It’s not just that I’ve been gone, but her litter box is filthy. It looks like nobody has cleaned it at all since I’ve been away. At all. It’s disgusting. And she hates a dirty litter box. I need to have a talk with my case manager about what staff have to do when I’m in the hospital, because failing on cat care isn’t one of those things.
He’s supposedly going to be filling the evening shift, which is my next thing to be terrified about – whether he’ll show up or not. Given that he didn’t show up at the hospital when they told me he would. (He couldn’t get out of a meeting, which is understandable, but what if he can’t get out of a meeting now when my shift is about to start?)
Fey has curled up on my legs and stopped yowling. But the litter box is a situation and a half, I mean it doesn’t need scooping, it needs complete dumping.
My feeding tube is in horrible shape because hospital nurses don’t know how to tell when it’s good or bad. Like it can have food crusted all over the edges of it and they’ll think because they can still push stuff through then it’s not a problem. They don’t do any daily care to prevent clogging. So I’m going to have my work cut out for me unclogging this thing. I’ve already started a diet coke flush that’s sitting in there longer than usual, just to get it started because I really don’t want this thing clogging before it gets replaced later this month.
Also I’m sort of only out provisionally. They can’t get all the lab work done until Sunday, so if it comes back positive they might… take me back into the hospital or something? And they said I might only feel better because I’ve been on antibiotics, even though they’re pretty sure it wasn’t ever bacterial. They’re being cautious. I know why. Meningitis is really bad when it’s the contagious kind. But still.
