anothermiserablefuck:

So I found a great organisation that would train my dog to be a therapy dog which would benefit me greatly especially with going to a new school this September after being out of mainstream education for over two years. But it turns out to cost almost €6000 which my family just can’t afford and I’m pretty devastated, but I’m gonna keep looking for a way to get her certified or get an already certified dog for myself, I’m just really bummed out about the whole thing

Autism service dog, companion dog, and therapy dog, are three different things.  Be absolutely sure you know what you’re getting.  A service dog is trained in specific tasks to aid you and will be allowed to go with you anywhere.  A companion dog is another term for a pet.  A therapy dog is a dog that can go into places like nursing homes and hospitals to make people feel better, things like that.  They aren’t the same things and they have totally different legal statuses.
