To follow on to someone’s post who said things like this…

I really do enjoy reading what you ate for dinner and seeing pictures of it.

I like hearing about your pets.

I like your selfies.

I like knowing about your insecurities and moments of wondering if anything you do is ever okay.  Because I can relate.  And relating is good.  Even when it’s over something bad.

And you never know what someone will relate to, so when you post about yourself, saying things you don’t think anyone will care about, there are doubtless dozens if not hundreds of people too scared to say “me too” but secretly gratified that someone somewhere is writing about those things.

Tumblr is public but it’s about our private lives, and it allows us a glimpse inside each other’s heads that we might never otherwise get.  And that allows us to make connections we might never otherwise make.

But I love these things.

I love everything about these things.

I love learning about the insides of other people’s heads.

I love learning that so much of what I thought was just me, is so many other people too.

I love learning that sometimes things I think are unique to me are pretty unique, yet there are still many people out thee with the same things going on.  Total uniqueness never exists.  This is comforting.

So don’t stop blogging about the things you want to blog about, however obscure, however introspective, however different.  There will always be someone to appreciate them.

I think this has a particular kind of importance for autistic adults/teens. There is so little information out there on...
