This turned into random makeup stuff spewing but here we go:
I somehow ended up with decent bone structure around my eyes so I guess that helps me figure out where the shadows go? Also yay color theory stuff helps.
Darker = makes it look deeper and smaller
lighter = wider
Poking at the bones and looking at eye socket in different lightings can help figure out shape.
Learning blending is important, and I think that since I got a nice soft brush my shadow has been coming out better?
I rec at LEAST 2 shades if not 3 per look- a darker one on the outside, and the medium/lighter one on the lid and inside. If 3, the lightest shade goes on the inside. My eyes are a little close together, so in addition to it helping make the inner eye look wider, it helps create visual space between my eyes.
Also I watch a lot of youtube makeup tutorials with my niece when i’m tired and that helps.
Lately what I’ve been doing for good color is to use a cream shadow pencil close to my skin tone (either a pink or a white/clear) before I put on the shadow as a primer. Or a colored cream shadow pencil if I want an undertone in there- I have a plum one that really works well for a purple-ly look.
Also I do my water line! supposedly using a white pencil there will make your eyes look more open and wider, but I use a darker color a lot of the time.
