I don’t particularly care one way or another about her? I appreciate that she’s trying to “normalize” autism and make people more aware of it as a difference and not a problem, BUT I also think that she promotes one flavor of autism, which obviously isn’t representative of all of us.
Cynthia Kim says it really well.
That all being said? I’d go see her talk. Her TED talk was good (talks?).
On a sensing level I find watching Temple Grandin talk intolerable. The last time I watched through an entire speech, it was like she was holding in so much of herself that it was coming out the sides and blasting everyone in sight, and it made my movement disorder go out of control and I was squirming and twitching more than I could stop myself from doing. I wish I could easily explain in words what she is doing to herself to have that effect, but it’s not good and I worry about her.
