pigeonforhire:

as a professionally diagnosed mentally ill person, self-diagnoses and people who self-diagnose have NEVER gotten in the way of my treatment or taken away my resources.
ableism from friends, family, peers, and even mental health professionals has.
our ‘keep the poor poorer’ economy has.
self-diagnoses is what brought me to professional diagnoses.
self-diagnoses does not hurt professionally diagnosed people.
if abled people act ableist because they don’t understand self-diagnosers, that’s them being ableist. that is abled people hurting disabled people. not self-diagnosed disabled people hurting professionally-diagnosed disabled people.

if you are abled and against self-daignoses, literally tell me why i’m waiting. and tell me why i should value your opinion about it, as a person who has no clue what its like to be disabled. Why do you think it’s okay to be ableist if you’re only being ableist against the disabled people in worse-off situations were they don’t have access to care, treatment, or medication. Why do you hate disabled people.
