They also demonstrate a lack of understanding of how evolution works. Evolution isn’t a linear progression, and it isn’t about individuals. In fact, the entire sexual spectrum makes perfect evolutionary sense - the local ecosystem can’t support EVERYBODY making babies. It’d crash. Therefore, what to do? Welp - being genetically ‘selected for’ just means those partners got to make babies.

And what about those who didn’t? Does it mean they didn’t get their freak on? Fuck no, sexual activity is a social lubricant as much as a procreative one. See also: bonobos using sex to ameliorate relationships after a fight.
