mildlyautisticsuperdetectives:
Is there any sort of AAC app that is image-centric and that focuses more on individual vocabulary words than on grammar structure?
I’m looking for something for my father, who recently had a stroke. He’s having some trouble communicating and “finding” the correct words. I think some sort of AAC program might help him, but he isn’t really able to read very well yet, and I don’t think he would be able to form full sentences.
I’ve been looking at Jabtalk, but I’m not quite sure I understand how to upload images and words myself, and I don’t think it comes with any pre-added words.
Something free, and available for Android devices would be ideal. It doesn’t have to be super elaborate or fancy, I just wanted to find something for him to try to work with.
I’m gonna tag this autism and actuallyautistic, because I’m also kind of curious for myself. I don’t currently use AAC, but it’s always good to be in the know, if the need ever arises.
