first of all if you’re dealing with the police you just better PRAY that you don’t have a psychiatric disorder

police beat a 64 year old deaf man for not being able to follow their verbal commands

police tasered a 15 year old autistic black child and faced no consequences

police shot and killed a schizophrenic double amputee for holding a “weapon” that turned out to be a pen

police murdered a young man with down’s syndrome for refusing to leave a movie theater

and when i was a child and someone called the police when they heard me scream in pain in fear all my mother had to tell the policeman was that i was autistic and that i had adhd and he disregarded the fact that i told him how she had repeatedly stomped on my ribcage

the police exist to maintain the status quo and the status quo favors white bodies and able bodies they enact violence on an institutional level and some of them might be good people yes but i cannot trust them to protect me and damn right i am going to hate them

I’ve had terrible police experiences. I’m lucky to be alive. And I think being white and DFAB may have something to do with why I’m alive at all. But basically I haven’t been able to go outside since my early teens, without people calling the cops to report a “wanderer”. (And this is one reason I hate the term “wanderer”, why I hate when people including other autistic people uphold the term as if it is meaningful for “some people”, and why I hate when people tell me I’m “not really a wanderer REALLY” because I can talk about it.)
