as small as a world and as large as alone

I wanted to write a big long post with my thoughts to elaborate on this, but after second thought, I really can’t add to it. I am forever torn between hiding from society to make art and the desire to make art for society. 

I think that perhaps this applies to philanthropy as well. To really truly have compassion for others, you must know and accept the depths of your own humanity in all its ugliness. And then push through until you find beauty, until you find truth, every layer of it. It’s not easy.

Gah. Humans. so messy and complex and ugly and beautiful.
