How is it that one of my very favorite books is a mainstream best seller about to become a movie, and yet I know no one who has read it??
And because it’s mainstream, I can’t find people who HAVE read it, who really want to engage the book on an academic and symbolic and psychological level, below the surface text.
The people who do read it aren’t into reading stuff very deeply and the people who are into reading stuff deeply, have never read this book.
I want to discuss this book SO badly.
I am almost at the point to where I may need to start offering to PAY people to read it.
It’s a deeply written book, and yet it seems like because it was a mainstream best seller, it got written off by the lit geeks, and because it’s not fantasy and is only vaguely sci-fi, none of my friends have read it (and most refuse to).
Wait, what book is this?
