I think I just learned to ignore them better until the next dose increase. the only side effect I didn’t get was drowsiness and increased sleep. which was the justification for why I should be on an ssri. “it will help your insomnia!” HAHAHA no.

the sleep side effect isnt even real most of the time anyway

well it’s real but it’s not “sleepy” it’s “fatigue”. The pills I have taken with the side effect of drowsiness have either been:

  • totally ineffective and I don’t even notice I have taken anything (melatonin, benadryl)
  • makes me tired but not sleepy, sometimes comes with more sleep but I still end up more tired than I was before the pill (amitriptyline, pentoxifylline)
  • knocks me out for another reason, ex. dropping my blood pressure below the “fainting” line (Tizanidine)

so unfortunately none of those are really helpful

I have to take multiple sedating meds at once, like tons of them, to get any sleep-inducing effects.  I mean most of them I’m not even on them because they’re sedating.  But since my steroids cause such bad insomnia, it takes all the rest of my meds plus some extra PRNs to counteract that and allow me to sleep even a partial night’s sleep.

And I notice this thing happens where… there’s a window where I could fall asleep, but if I push through that window, then the meds won’t help me sleep, at all, anymore.  So if I’m writing or something when that window happens, and I don’t fall asleep, then I’m screwed.
