***Update - We want all of our fans to be up to date on the most correct information and, although it is true the 8 of the 9 Lakota tribes have taken steps towards the Title IV Solution, they are all at different levels of the process. To be exact: 5 tribes—Yankton, Standing Rock, Cheyenne River, Crow Creek, and Pine Ridge—have submitted Title IV-E Planning Grant Applications; Flandreau has recently completed their application, Lower Brule is finalizing their application, and Rosebud has already received their planning grant. Also, the decision as to who will be approved for the grants will be made by mid-September and any monies will be released by mid-October.***

Let’s tell the federal government that the Lakota tribes of South Dakota deserve the Title IV Planning Grants! Keep Sharing and Become a MEMBER: http://lakotalaw.org/donate-new . 8 of the 9 Lakota tribes of South Dakota have submitted their Title IV Planning Grant Applications. Now is the time that we must demonstrate our seriousness in creating foster care for Lakota children that is run by each Lakota tribe. The federal government will decide to approve or reject these applications by mid-October, and until then, we will be contacting the Department of Interior and Department of Justice to back us in our desire for the Department of Health and Human Services to approve these grants. Each of these grants that are approved will assist each tribe in creating the infrastructure that is integral in constructing their own Child and Family Planning Programs. However, without the assistance of our generous supporters, we would not have been able to reach this important milestone.
