I don’t think you’re being rude. It’s something that’s subtle and not easy to explain. They’re not doing one specific thing that’s wrong. They have an entire feeling that’s wrong. People have talked about it as like a sense of superiority, which is part of it, a sense of ownership, of herding, of viewing the client from above, that kind of thing. It’s all to me very obvious but it’s also subtle at the same time so I don’t know how to explain it if you don’t see it. But not being able to see it is not rude.
The way I’d describe it if I could is that the staff person is exuding staffishness, but that requires knowing what staffishness looks like.
