Scientists Find a New Use for Botox That Could Actually Save Lives

I wish Botox had better publicity as an actual medicine. My former client, who had severe Parkinson’s, had one hand that was so tightly clawed and contracted that her fingernails were digging into her palm and causing her to have infections. She was close to having surgery that would’ve removed all ability to do anything with that hand. A couple of Botox injections solved the problem relatively painlessly, with zero complications.

A lot of people who have cerebral palsy use Botox to help loosen up their muscles and improve their mobility. It also lessens pain, IIRC.

It’s also used for migraines.

But I’m not allowed to take it because apparently it’s contraindicated for myasthenia gravis.
