Anonymous asked: Abled ppl who see that I have a service dog and say something like 'you don't look blind' or 'I guess they let any one have a service dog'. STFU my dog cost 10,000 dollers and is highly trained from puppyhood to be the kind of companion I need to survive in this world, not just a pet with a swanky vest

People don’t understand shit when it comes to service dogs, I’ve come to find out. That a variety of people with varying disabilities might need one. Or how expensive they are and how you have to either have the dog paid for via insurance or something, or you really have to “”need”“’ it (bad concept all around.)

That’s so awful they’d say stuff like that.

Just… wow.

You (and your dog) stay safe, alright?

People used to just assume I was blind.

I think it’s because, according to my mom anyway, I moved like a stereotypical blind person – stiffly and without looking around me.  Probably because of some combination of autistic catatonia, and the fact that I become functionally blind pretty readily when overloaded.  So I didn’t get the “You’re not blind” thing, I got the “Oh look at the blind girl and her dog” thing.
