Which states have the most people with state pride?

its like the shittier your state is the more pride you have

florida has too much state pride

I can totally understand why VA gets “everyone wants to move”.

Vermont has way too much state pride.  Basically, they take pride in being more progressive than other states.  But then they stop doing anything to earn that pride.  They just expect everyone to take it as a given.  And then when they don’t continue earning their reputation, and the ‘little people’ on the ground have something to say about it, they blame the 'little people’ for being too 'negative’.
Of course that’s one part of Vermont.  Another part of Vermont has state pride over being old Vermonters, and that’s something completely different.  An old (or real) Vermonter is someone whose family has been in the state for at least three generations, and it’s a major status thing around here.  Often they have French names and may look French.  Unlike people with status elsewhere, they’re often poor and working-class.  At any rate, being a real Vermonter carries a lot of status around here.
I will never be a real Vermonter.  If I had children they would not be real Vermonters.  If my children had children they might be real Vermonters, maybe.  And if their children had children they’d definitely be real Vermonters.  It takes several generations before you’re considered part of the state for real.
I find this interesting because I was told in California that I wasn’t a real Californian because my family were Okies.  So now I move to Vermont and I’m a not-real California and a not-real Vermonter both.
Anyway the 'we’re more progressive than thou and you’d better recognize it even without proof’ state pride is different entirely from the 'real Vermonter’ state pride, but they’re both going strong here.
