a really fun thing about being autistic is that you get held responsible not only for your own perceived failures to communicate, but for those of other people too

if you struggle for a long time to express something you feel in a way that other people can understand then you’re told “why didn’t you just say so“ or "why didn’t you tell me sooner”

but if you misread or fail to notice someone else’s opaque social cues then suddenly it’s your fault because “you should have known“ or "you should have been able to just tell”
