Hey, clatterbane - given what we were talking about earlier (Native American agriculture, chenopods, etc. ) I thought you might be interested in these books.  And might want to check them out.
The one on the left is called Enduring Seeds by Gary Paul Nabhan
The one on the right is called New Lives for Ancient and Extinct Crops edited by Paul E. Minnis.  I think you might be especially interested in it because it has a chapter on Maygrass (which is from roughly your neck of the woods) and a few chapters on chenopods (goosefoot, etc.).
