For those interested in facilitated communication, this gets into some ways that it can go right, and it can go wrong, based on elements of being autistic that have to do with awareness of self and other.  It was written by Donna Williams and I pretty much agree with what she has to say – these are some of the reasons that FC can go wrong, not all of them.  And she is right, that when FC works, it’s often much more than because of a purely motor problem, although it does work for people whose problems are mostly motor.

Anyway, click the above link to read it, if you’re interested at all.  I like it because she’s another person who is aware that both the main critics of FC and the main proponents of FC don’t know what they’re talking about, and that things are far more complex than a simple yes versus no.
