That’s true, but no matter how loving you are and what great stuff you do I won’t talk to you if you think I’m “going to hell” because I’m trans and you think I should be cured.

I draw similar lines around other issues. I try to avoid people who work in the kinds of special ed programs that are a threat to me. Or antisemites. Because I just don’t need that corrosive BS in my life.

For me it all depends on the person.

Like I’ve had friends who think that being gay is a sin, and I’m gay.  But they treated me with more respect than some actual gay people did, so I allowed them in my life even though they thought it was a sin.  And we got along fine.

But if they had been constantly trying to make me ex-gay, that’d have been a different story.
