I find it hilarious that white people are telling us to go back to our countries when they stole this land from Native Americans.

My mom actually got told that to her face on at least one occasion, by some dude who also threw in several anti-Mexican insults besides misogynistic ones. I witnessed that one.

It was darkly funny, in a way. We’re from Virginia (for at least 20,000 years)—and that guy sounded like a recent transplant from NY, for that extra dash of absurdity.

Sherman Alexie talked about right after 9/11, some guy in a big phallic-looking pickup truck pulled up to him on the street and yelled “GO BACK TO YOUR COUNTRY!”  Sherman (a Coeur D'Alene/Spokane Indian) was unable to coherently respond, due to the fact that he was laughing his ass off.  He tells the story better than I do though, it’s on YouTube somewhere.
