bittersnurr:

I get really confused by dysphoria and transness conversations

Like I get the actual dictionary definition is totally useless and is something like “feeling of unease” or something but wouldn’t idk, being really fucking upset about being misgendered be dysphoria?

Because I have body dysphoria but I don’t really conciser myself -actually trans- because I don’t have social dysphoria and that seems to be the actual thing that counts.

I don’t care if people call me a boy or a girl, I don’t care what label my clothes has on it. I don’t care about what pronouns anyone uses to refer to me etc.

But most of the feelings I have to my genitals I end up censoring because they are so graphic self mutilation shit that I feel bad even putting the images in people’s heads.

idk it is just really weird to me.

Because the “not really trans” people I see being complained about most seems to be people with social dysphoria not the body kind?

Like I’m pretty sure I am more fake then those people. Because you know how much transphobia you experience with just body dysphoria? practically none. The only time my non-cis-ness is a problem is they keep trying to send me to they gynocologist so I just don’t go to the gynocologist.

Any dysphoria should count if you feel like you are trans. Because doesn’t reducing gender to genitals kind of contradict the whole gender is in your head thing?

Interesting, in that most of the trans people I’ve run into who go “You’re not trans if you don’t have dysphoria” have been overly concerned with body dysphoria and not social dysphoria.  One of them even went to the lengths of saying, and this is almost a direct quote:

“If you only have dysphoria about your secondary sex characteristics, that’s not body dysphoria, it’s body dysmorphia, and you aren’t trans unless you have dysphoria about your primary sex characteristics.”

Which I’d never seen anyone split that particular hair so finely before and it pissed me off.

FWIW, I experience body dysphoria about genitals and other body parts, I don’t talk about the details because I feel like that’s private, and I don’t want people poring over my feelings about my body in public.  I also have social dysphoria.  But I’ve never yet seen a trans person say that it’s social dysphoria that makes you trans, only seen them say it’s body dysphoria and that social dysphoria alone “isn’t enough”.  (Nor, according to some really extremist types, is body dysphoria that isn’t focused around genitalia.)
