So my muscle biopsy is Wednesday.

They want to do some pretty heavy sedation during it, because of my stress responses and adrenal insuffiiency and so forth, and because they said there’s really no way to use enough local anesthesia for it to work without using dangerous amounts.  And since I’m under-sensitive to local anesthetic anyway, this sounds like it’ll be a lot of fun.

But I really want to know if I have mito disease or not.  They’re going to take samples from my arm and samples from my leg, and run a bunch of different tests on them including mitochondrial DNA testing.

And this will hopefully tell me for sure.  One way or the other.  I like knowing for sure.  Even when the news is bad.  Not knowing is the worst with chronic illness.  And I feel phenomenally lucky to even know about the adrenal insufficiency and the maybe-myasthenia-gravis.  So knowing about this, either way, would be amazing.  I just hope that whatever test they’re doing is The Definitive Test because I had lots of “The Definitive Tests” for myasthenia before I finally tested positive on that single fiber EMG.  But my neurologist is thorough and I’ll have to trust in that for now.
