Tao Te Ching, verse 47, translated by Gia-Fu Feng and Jane English
Without going outside, you may know the whole world
Without looking through the window, you may see the ways of heaven
The farther you go, the less you knowThus the wise know without traveling;
See without looking;
Work without doing.
I know there’s a deeper meaning to this (and I know what that meaning is), but it reminds me of being bedridden, and how the whole world opened up to me in a way. Being in one spot forced me to see the world in new ways.
