New Octopus Is So Adorable It Might Be Named Opisthoteuthis Adorabilis

The most adorable little octopus in the world looks like a cross between a Pac-Man ghost and a Pokemon creature.

Just don’t ask for its name because it doesn’t have one yet. But the octopus is so cute that “adorable” might become part of its scientific identity.

I had the thought “bras are basically harnesses for your boobs” and now I have this mental image of disembodied boobs eagerly pulling a cart (with bouncing!) with a bra shaped harness- slashmarks

FYI, I put an epilepsy warning on this because the way it’s loading on my computer, there’s an icky flicker in one part of the bouncing boobs.  I’m not sure if it’s just my computer or everyone’s, but better safe than sorry.  (I often find that when gifs load on my system, they flicker even when they shouldn’t be flickering.  That’s why I epilepsy warn all gifs whether I can see flicker immediately or not.  I know that annoys some people but annoying people is better than giving people seizures accidentally because I’m afraid of annoying people.  On this one it took me a minute after I’d put the warning up, to find the flicker, but it was there.)Okay wow I just wrote “all gifs” instead of “all animated gifs”, this disturbs me greatly. I remember when gif was just an image format that happened to support animation.  (And then it became proprietary and everyone had to switch to PNG for awhile, and I don’t know what happened after that.)

What’s hard about Mars?Mars, unlike the Moon, is far away. It also has an atmosphere - but not a useful one. Atmospheric density, wind, dust storms… all of these things contribute to a larger list of circumstances that any given mission needs to be ready for.All those circumstances contribute heavily to the cost, time and hard resources needed to be poured into the mission preparation. In addition, the vast distance to Mars means the cost of carrying all this prepared hardware must be covered. The atmosphere of Mars is such that if you’re going too fast during entry, you’ll burn up. It’s such a low density however that parachutes aren’t tremendously useful.During the Curiosity rover’s landing it needed a heat shield, a supersonic parachute, rocket boosters to slow it down, a sky-crane to allow Curiosity to drop to the surface like an interplanetary spider and then explosive propulsion to send the platform it dropped from a safe distance away to crash into the surface.During this landing, the rover experienced a force of about 15 g’s. That force would make a 200 lb man weigh 3000 lbs. Without proper precautions it would make the average head snap down at about 150 to 165 lbs.NASA’s developing a new type of parachute and it’s being attached to a flying saucer-like spacecraft known as the Low-Density Supersonic Decelerator. This is currently hoped to provide NASA with a stable go-to architecture for future Mars missions. The red planet’s killed most missions sent there. Power for solar-panels on rovers get covered during planet-wide dust storms. Some missions smashed into its moons. Some have smashed into its surface. Others have simply missions the planet entirely only to drift away as Mars dances around the Sun.The world is an untamed place and has sought to buck all attempts to temper its mysteries.  (Image credit: ESA / DLR / FU Berlin (G. It’s not just some passive rock swinging in circles around the Sun. Does it have / did it have life? Maybe. Does it have A life? Hell yes.

☞Turning straw into pen.

ARE YOU FUCKIN SERIOUS I’VE SPENT SHIT TONS OF MONEY ON CALLIGRAPHY PENS FOR ART AND YOU’RE TELLING ME I CAN MAKE MY OWN FOR LESS THAN 4 FRIGGEN DOLLARS??? THIS IS BULLSHIT MY ENTIRE ART LIFE IS A LIE

calligraphy friends: to what extent is this bullshit?

it is not remotely bullshit, “cola pens” are an extremely awesome tool! but they’re not as useful as steel nibs, they wear out quickly, and you cut yourself a whole lot making them; also you can’t make a pointed nib from a cola can so pointed pen styles are out, and you won’t get as reliable a line as with a steel nib.  and steel nibs are generally less than $2 each, so it’s not like you’re saving tons of money.

here (youtube link) is Luca Barcellona using a cola pen in 2008. he isn’t using it for traditional styles like gothic above; these pens are best for what is called “expressive calligraphy” like what he’s doing there, and for other modern scripts. the way they skitch on paper is so deeply pleasing <3

thank you calligraphy friend! <3

the worst beauty misconception dark girls are fed is that they can’t experiment with their look

you can go as loud as you want

imageimage

or keep it simple

imageimage

stick to the neutrals

image

or go on all out galaxy chic

imageimageimage

go out sultry

imageimageimage

or go out sweet

imageimage

cause your skin is so versatile

imageimage

that there’s no such thing as “the right colour”

imageimageimageimage

be a goddamn mermaid if you like

imageimage

 dress down

or up

go natural

or not

you’ll still look flawless

so go ahead and shower in gold

or do nothing at all

cause at the end of the day

you’re still a queen

You wanna talk representation? Before Tumblr, I never experimented with color, hair or makeup-wise. I’d heard too many people correlate black women and bright colors as ‘ghetto’. Posts like these are So important. So incredibly important.

Thank you
